Pitkäaikainen haavemme, joulu Lapissa - ja erityisesti joulu Lapissa asuntoautolla - toteutui vihdoin ja se oli kyllä juurikin niin ihanaa kun toivoimme. Auto oli lämmin ja kotoisa, joulu rauhallinen ja Lappi kauneimmillaan. / Our long dream, Christmas in Lapland - and especially Christmas in Lapland in a camper van - finally came true and it was just as wonderful as we hoped for. The car was warm and cozy, Christmas was peaceful and Lapland was the most beautiful.
Jouluna söimme jouluaterian Kiilopään hotellissa, availimme muutamat pienet paketit autossa ja kävimme katsomassa suksilla saapunutta joulupukkia. Minäkin leikin tonttua. Illalla suklaata ja elokuvia. Aika mukavaa.
/ We ate a Christmas dinner in a nearby hotel, opened a few presents in the car and went to see Santa Claus who came with skis. I played an elf too. Chocolate and movies in the evening. Pretty nice.
Vietimme viikon siis Kiilopäällä ja lähialueilla seikkaillen. Kiipesimme Kiilopäälle muutaman kerran ja parina päivänä saimme ihailla kaamoksen kauneutta - kirkasta talvipäivää ja kaikkia upeita pastellin sävyjä. Valoa ei tosiaan ollut paljon mutta se oli sitäkin kauniimpaa.
/ We spent a week in Kiilopää and its nearby areas. We climbed on top of it a few times and on a couple days we got to admire the beauty of the polar night - bright winter day and all the gorgeous pastel colors. There really wasn't much light but it was even more beautiful.
Tuntureissa on taikaa. Lapissa on taikaa. Tuntuu uskomattomalta että tuollaisia paikkoja on omassa maassaamme - ja että jotkut pääsevät näkemään niitä ihan joka päivä.
/ There's magic in the mountains. And magic in Lapland. It feels unbelievable that we have such places in our own country - and that some of us get to see them everyday.
Kotimatkalla pysädyimme Rovaniemellä mikä ruuhkineen ja turisteineen tuntui aivan järkyttävältä tuntureiden rauhan jälkeen. Halusimme äkkiä pois. Sitä ennen vierailtiin nopeasti husky-tarhalla tyttöjen kanssa. Vaikka paikka oli selkeästi vain turisteja varten, tykkäsimme silti kovasti - kaikki ne koirat olivat niin ihania!
/ On our way home we stopped at Rovaniemi which felt shocking with its traffic jams and tourists after peaceful mountains. We wanted to leave fast. Before leaving we quickly visited a husky-farm with girls. Even though it was clearly made for tourists, we liked it a lot - all the dogs were so lovely!
Vimeisen illan nuotio jossain pimeän meren äärellä. Kiitos Lappi. Olit uskomaton.
